If anyone would make sense to collaborate with Euphoria, it would be Tove Lo. Tove Lo's discography contains countless hit songs filled with raunchy themes of sex and drugs, so the pairing seemed to be inevitable. The idea has been referenced in the past, and she finally broke the news to fans over social media a couple of days ago that she would be dropping her newest single, How Long, as a part of the season 2 soundtrack.
The song covers a story of betrayal as the narrator has been led on by someone who has no intention of staying with her. She said to Rolling Stone, "It was one of the few songs that came together for me during quarantine, and I think it’s so beautiful in all it’s darkness." The song is definitely dark as it details her partner being in love with someone else and gaslighting, featuring lines like: "how long have you tried to end it; while I'm blamin' myself to fix it." Its subject matter is met with vibrant production featuring warm synths and keys matched with a growling low end mix to make for an absolutely killer end result.
The song will air in the upcoming 4th episode on February 30th, so we will see if the subject matter will overlap with any new plot developments in the show. Until then it's up to fans to speculate if the song is a hint at what is to come.
